How Do I Migrate My InfoMagic Extra Documents to A New Computer

If Migrating to Vista or Windows 7 I Strongly Recommend You Use Method 2 of the Installation Procedure Described Here Instead of Installing in the Default Location Suggested Below.

Method 1:
If you still have access to your old computer or have a complete backup of your InfoMagic folder copy your entire InfoMagic Extra folder to the new computer.  Then, hoping you've kept a copy of the installation file you downloaded when you purchased a registered copy of IMe, use it to do another installation to the same location on the new computer.  That's it!  This will carry forward all your working documents, and replace all of the supporting files needed by the program.  You cannot simply copy the folder to the new computer because this will not replace the supporting files.

For example, assuming you accepted the default installation location, your InfoMagic Extra folder will be located at C:\Program Files\InfoMagic Extra on the old computer.  Copy the entire InfoMagic Extra folder including all of its contents to a finger drive, CD-ROM disk, memory card, ect.  Also, copy your original registered installation file if you haven't already saved it to a backup disk.

Put the CD-ROM, finger drive, etc. in the new computer and copy the InfoMagic Extra folder from it into the C:\Program Files folder on your new computer.  Now use the InfoMagic installation file to perform an installation to this same location.

If you no longer have the registered version of the installation file go here

Method 2:  If you no longer have access to your old computer, but have a backup you made using the InfoMagic backup facility onto a floppy or CD-ROM, finger drive etc. do the following:

bulletHoping you've kept a copy of the installation file you downloaded when you purchased a registered copy of IMe, use it to install the program on the new computer.   Then . . .
bulletInsert the disk with the backup of your IMe documents into the new computer.
bulletIn InfoMagic Preferences select the location of the backup and go to Accessories > Restore Documents from Backup and do a restore.

Method 3: If you no longer have access to your old computer or a complete backup of your InfoMagic folder, but you have a backup of your document folders on a floppy or CD-ROM, finger drive etc. do the following:

bulletHoping you've kept a copy of the installation file you downloaded when you purchased a registered copy of IMe, use it to install the program on the new computer.   Then . . .
bulletInsert the disk with the backup of your IMe documents into the new computer.
bulletLocate the folder where you just installed IMe on the new computer.  If you accepted the default this will be C:\Program Files\InfoMagic Extra.
bulletCopy the folders from the backup disk into this folder.
bulletYou should be good to go.

If you no longer have the registered version of the installation file go here
